MobileCom 2.5G

The Western DataCom MobileCom 2.5G is a dual cellular data modem that also includes an integrated onboard GPS receiver. The MobileCom 2.5G motherboard is capable of holding two cellular modem modules, in addition to the GPS receiver. Modules are carrier specific and are selected based on the application of the MobileCom 2.5G. Carriers supported are Verizon, Sprint, Alltel, Cingular and T Mobile. The versatility provided by the MobileCom allows integrators and end users the ability to accommodate multiple carriers' services in a single PC/104 Plus card.

The MobileCom 2.5G operates using CDMA 1xRTT and/or GSM/GPRS cellular data technologies; offering the widest variety of application scenarios in a single card. CDMA offers data rates up to 153K bps and GPRS offers data rates up to 115Kbps. The MobileCom 2.5G can operate on Verizon, Sprint, Alltel, Cingular and T-mobile nationwide networks. The MobileCom is compatible wih the Cisco 3200 Series rugged chassis (thermal plates optional).

It offers a fully configurable platform capable of running two CDMA, two GPRS or one each CDMA and GPRS. All configurations are capable of supporting an integrated 12-channel GPS receiver (optional).

The optional GPS receiver is located on the top side of the printed circuit board and provides industry standard NMEA data, utilizing the SurfII chipset. Output is available on a serial RS-232 interface and is compatible with most GPS software applications utilizing the NMEA data format.

Western DataCom has also completed testing with a dual function antenna. This antenna has dual connectors for combining CDMA/GPRS and GPS into a single package. It is available for both internal and external applications with or without magnetic mount.
